a few nights ago, a car alarm went off in front of my house for 20 minutes. at three am. it was a honking car alarm. i was pissed off for a full 24 hours after that.
another irrational (yes, i can admit that its ridiculous...see how mature i am?) peeve i have is motorcycles revving.
i dont think i was sensitive to either of these sounds until i lived in San Francisco right by the Broadway tunnel and would listen to motorcycle gangs roaring through it all night. god, that was miserable.

motorcycle revving hatred is not irrational. it is completely unnecessary and someone (read: an egotistical man) just wanting to show off. we not only have motorcycles here but also crappy scooters and dirt bikes (seriously) which rev at much higher pitches :)
What is this "cars should come without cup holders" nonsense I read?
I can understand the horn peeve, though it has proved itself useful when someone (read: people on cell phones not paying attention to which lane they are driving in - and yes, I may have been guilty of this once or twice) is about to swerve into your lane and cause you death by highway accident. Ack.
