RENO!!!

Hi kids -

I'm sitting in Dallas. Flying back to SF tomorrow. Last weekend I was in Tahoe with some friends for a long weekend of skiing. We flew into Reno, then took a shuttle to our condo in Tahoe. Anyway, we all met in the Denver airport (we had about a 2 hour layover), then flew to Reno together. there were 7 of us on the plane, which was fun. Anyway, on my flight from PHL to DEN, i had decided to watch some dvds on the plane. foolishly, i brought nip/tuck. i guess i had a major memory lapse, bc i didnt' remember that nip/tuck is VERY graphic and full of sex scenes, so i felt TOTALLY filthy when the 1st one started and i was on the plane and i quickly stopped the dvd and watched 'The Office' instead. anyway - Reno.

when we arrived in Reno, we had to wait a while for luggage, since everyone had skis, snowboards, etc. it was about 9pm. and you'll never guess what happens at 9pm in the Reno airport. BARS CLOSE!!! i couldn't believe it!!! you can play slot machines, you can gamble your little heart out, but no cocktails. no good. i DID see an ipod vending machine, and that made me laugh out loud (and only cara understood why). Anyway - i dont have a lot of commentary about the airport, sadly. since i wasn't there for long. their luggage was relatively speedy, which is a major plus. and then i drove back to SF with a friend after the weekend, so i didn't even go back to the airport so i only had the 1 experience.
RENO EVALUATION
Pros:
1. Short wait for luggage
2. slot Machines
3. Ipod vending
Cons:
1. bar was closed unacceptably early
Celeb Spottings: None
Distance to City: FAR. our shuttle took a while to get us up to Tahoe.
NOTE: I didn't use any of the usual services i use in airports. food, rental cars, check in, security, etc. that's probably why my review is so positive. :)

The weekend was great. We skiied, gambled in the casinos, met some strange and hilarious locals (1 in particular who will go down in history as the weirdest person any of us have ever met), ate lots of good food, and had a wonderful time. Anyway - after driving back to San Francisco, I had about 2 hours at home to unpack, repack, pay bills, then go to the airport to fly to Dallas! And here I am.

SFO Airport - yes, they're now ushering the Global Services people to the front of the line, but i'm 99.99% sure they've always done that in SFO. They always had a special 'red' line for GS and Intl 1st class. I'm not sure, i'm not GS so i usually dont pay much attention to their special treats bc it makes me insanely jealous :)

Note - is anyone else loving the SNL "Laser Cats" sketches as much as I am? I think they're hilarious. Maybe i just really like cat-related humor? Katy sends me links all the time. Most of you know i love the 'huge cat' picture where the girl is holding the cat like a baby and it is the size of a tiger. anyway i have a new favorite 'huge cat' picture. it's probably fake, but i dont care, it makes me laugh. why do i have this obsession with giant animals? rmember the huge bunny picture? awesome.

First, those cat pictures creep me out. Second, go to www.cuteoverload.com every day - I have a feeling Katy will LOVE this site. Third, isn't it a law that alcohol MUST be served in gambling areas? I don't get it. Don't they know they will make more money with bored travelers if they liquor them up?

I LOVE cat humor, possibly because I own a humorous cat and get a kick out of him daily. Regardless, you should definitely check out Stuff on My Cat - SO funny. Right now they have a picture up of a giant cat on top of a small baby in a carriage, and it made me laugh out loud all day.

It's the airport geek with a totally useless factoid about Reno Airport. Those slot machines bring in $3.2 million a year in revenue. I'm still pissed about the $20 I lost playing the Wheel f Fortune slot machine!!

I went to Reno, I loved playing internet casino slot machines while I was there.
